At M Dental we do our best to help keep your natural teeth. However there are occasions where this is not possible and the tooth has to be extracted. All extractions are preferably performed under Local Anaesthetic. If your situation warrants the need for General Anaesthetic, we will be more than happy to give you a referral. Our lasers can be used for disinfection of extraction wounds, controlling bleeding and more.
Wisdom teeth usually appear at the back of your mouth during your late teens or early twenties. Often there is no room for them to ‘erupt’ (come through the gum) and the teeth fail to emerge properly. A wisdom tooth can erupt partly through the gum, or remain trapped below the gum – this is known as an ‘impacted’ wisdom tooth. Impacted wisdom teeth can become a constant source of infection and have the potential for an acute ‘flare up’.
